Information:
Did you know that the average American produces 4.9 pounds of waste a day with only
1.16 pounds being recycled and 0.42 pounds being composted?
When waste is not properly sorted, there is a higher chance of compostable and recyclable material ending up in the landfill. Non-organic materials like plastic are many times only used once but can take hundreds of years to decompose in landfills. Additionally, due to anaerobic conditions in landfills, organic materials tend to emit methane, which has a global warming potential of 25 times more than carbon dioxide. Learn to properly sort waste!
